In 2003, Joe Nolan, Yossi Hatton and Chris Swirski formed a band called Kimono Draggin'. Originally they geared the entire idea of the band around an insane (but funny) story about 3 martial artists, practicing the fighting style known as Dik Chin. Their objective was to save humanity from the grasp of an evil faction known as Ball Busters LLC. In order to achieve their goal, the trio needed money to fund their efforts so they formed a music group on the side. Writing and performing odd, jangly rock music and kicking bad guys asses was their main mission. They began filming for a TV show trailer that would eventually be discussed with A&E Network Associate Producer, Aurelio Muraca.
At around the same time, they also recorded their first full-length album, "My Summer in Paris with Kimono Draggin". Since the band always kept strict creative control over all facets of their concepts, stories, music and videos; they created the "Spaynsive Productions" moniker to release all of their projects. The label is an "inside" slang term the group came up with. Many people have theories on what the actual word means...we don't even think we know what it means. The best we've heard is that it's the "spanglish" way of saying the word expansive. As far as the logo goes...back in 1998, Chris Swirski was given a Luchador mask as a gift...he wore it to work one day and his co-workers dubbed him The Flaming Phoenix. He thought the image worked perfectly with the name, hence, Spaynsive Productions was born.
In early 2011, in order to focus efforts on reorganizing their band, Joe Nolan and Chris Swirski passed the torch on to Christof Almondy, naming him as the new General Manager of Spaynsive. Things have been running smoothly ever since.
